We spent a little over a week in the house of a friend of a friend of ours. It was a wonderful transition out of our old home and gave us plenty of room. What kind people to lend out their house to complete strangers!
Because our company only covers the last 5 days in our "home"location for interim living, we've been playing rental car merry-go-round. I sold my beloved Acura on Monday and drove a Ford Focus to work this week. In an odd coincidental turn, Candace was driving back from the airport, having returned our minivan rental with a friend, and happened to see our old minivan on Beltway 8. What are the odds?
Dad Kline and Chris flew in last weekend and we got to say good-bye to them. We had a fun time swimming in the pool and eating out. We sure will miss them.

Some good friends of ours coordinated and hosted a farewell for us at their home on Sunday evening and many families from church came by to say good-bye. It was nice to see everyone and feel their support. 2 cheers to our friends for opening their home to dozens of crazy kiddos. :-)
We said good-bye to our dear neighbors also on Sunday. They've been such good friends and it was hard to say good-bye. Through hurricanes, heart surgeries, hot summers, and more, we've been through a lot together. Tears all around.

I had my 10-year work service anniversary earlier this week. The timing was great and a nice way to say thank-you to the many people who've mentored me over the years. Let me just say, Taste of Texas is my favorite place to eat in Houston. Wow.

Mid-week, we stopped by a dear sister's home from our Ward at church. She's been a wonderful grandma to us all and it was hard to say good-bye. She wrote each of them a good-bye letter, reminding them to focus on what really counts in this life. We bought her lovely dinning room table set as part of our move, so we'll think of her every day as we eat dinner on it.

Several nights this week, we ate at the home of many dear friends. It's been heart warming to feel everyone's love for us...and been a good reminder that life is about the lives you touch and love, and not much else.
So here we are, in a small hotel room, ready to fly out of Houston tomorrow. While we have no large assets any more (home and cars all gone), our greatest assets of love and friendship abound.
We'll miss you all!

Your heart and head must be split in half after all of this. I hope that the even bigger transition ahead will be as easy as possible. See you in a few days!
