I’ve never been zip-lining. Neither has Candace. Neither have any of our children. We played with the idea for the last month and finally took the plunge while up in Chiang Mai. It was one of the most FUN things we’ve done as a family. Seriously. It was an amazing adventure. We were all a little nervous before our first jump into the jungle canopy, but after that first run, we were all hooked – even our little boy! He has no fear!
It started raining hard right after our first run, but to be honest, it only added to the adventure of the whole thing (and we were genuinely cold!…in Thailand!). Standing on platforms up to 120 feet in the top of the trees is amazing…to do it with your family is quite the experience.
Gearing Up
First run (before it POURED rain)
Last jump after the last zip-line (120 feet above a raging, muddy river):
After a good lunch, we drove down to an elephant preserve and watched the elephants bathe, put on a show (yes, they played soccer and painted…), and got to go up and hug them, have them kiss us (I don’t recommend this), and snuggle all we wanted:
We wrapped up the day with some ice cream at Tiger World – where you can pay to go into large cages and get your pictures with tigers. No. Thank. You. We took pictures from the outside and enjoyed our treat:
That night, back at Secret Garden, we had a wonderful Thai dinner amidst floating lanterns in the trees, giggles from the kids, and yes, mosquitos:
