Nichada Thani empties out once school is out. As such, we have planned a full summer back in the States to take advantage of the time with family. Kevin's work has been great and will let him work remotely for most of that time.
We've been planning our trip back to America for several months, so when the (early, 3am) morning arrived of our departure (one year to-the-day from our arrival in Thailand), everyone was really excited!
After saying good-bye to Khun Jah and Khun Tar, we arrived at the airport just fine (the Bangkok roads were remarkably free of traffic at 3:30am). Check-in went really smoothly and we waited in the Thai Air lounge until our departure.
The flight from Bangkok to Tokyo was OK. It was on an older 777 and the food was distinctly Japanese (even the "kid's meals" were too much for the kiddos). We had a few hours in Japan, and then boarded a new 787 (dreamliner) for Seattle.
Seattle was a cold 65 degrees when we arrived and we pulled out the jackets. We had a wonderful reunion with Grandma and Grandpa Ball and it felt GREAT to be back in America!
Our daughter was thrilled to reunite with her "twin" cousin and spend the next several weeks together.
