Sampran Riverside Thailand

My sister-in-law and her husband are visiting us for a week and a half!  We’re always excited to have visitors and took this Saturday to show them around some fun new sites.  We weren’t sure if we’d like Sampran Riverside village, but it turned out to be an absolutely amazing day!  There are stations all throughout the village where you learn about Thai culture and get hands-on activities as well.

We started off by learning some local Thai dancing with bamboo sticks:

Next stations taught about Thai herbal compresses, sword fighting, and our youngest’s favorite, Thai boxing!

We walked over to the next village and learned umbrella painting, palm frond weaving (fish), Thai musical instruments, clay figurines (elephants), cooking, and flower necklaces.  Wow.

I thought the Thai way of separating the rice from the chaff is brilliant:

And then making rice milk and water buffalo friends!

We fed the amazing elephants and got up close and personal with a white boa constrictor.  That was amazing.

Admission included a wonderful buffet next to the big lake and then we walked around the beautiful grounds before the elephant show began.

After the elephant show we went to the Thai culture show with live music, dancing, boxing, fighting, and audience participation.  What a day!
