Candace and I have been itching to get out and see some of Thailand ever since we got here, but we’ve been so busy getting settled and then in the rush of daily life, we haven’t had much time. So a few weeks ago, we sat down and blocked out some time in the upcoming months to see some of Thailand. This last weekend was one of those times – and boy are we glad we did! We went to a beach city about a 2.5 drive South of where we live. A co-worker of mine has a condo there and invited us to stay with him at his place. We left Friday afternoon and were happy to be on our way.
Let me start off by saying that Hua Hin and the stuff we saw around there far surpassed my expectations. I don’t know exactly what I expected, but it wasn’t the great jagged mountains, tropical jungles, and nature we saw. It was beautiful and a welcome relief from the concrete that makes up so much of Bangkok and the surrounding area.
When we arrived we got all unpacked and our starving children convinced us we needed to go and find some food. Close to the condo is a new shopping area with lots of upscale shops, restaurants, and even dinosaurs (our youngest was thrilled):
We had some pretty good Thai food that night and then went back to the condo. The kids begged us to go swimming, so swimming we went. It was pretty dark, but we had fun and all slept well that night.
Day 2 on the next post….
