Before leaving for China, we asked around which of Hong Kong’s amusement parks would be great for a day. We got answers right down the middle. Some loved Disneyland. Some preferred Ocean Park. Well, with an extra 3 days in Hong Kong, we decided to try both. Glad we did as both are great, but very different from each other.
We rode the MTR most of the way there, and then caught the Ocean Park double decker bus (most buses in Hong Kong are 2 levels) for the rest of the ride. The kids were really excited at this point – so were we.
The park is split in half by a mountain. They have a great cable car you can take (on the edge of a cliff) over the top or a train. We opted for the cable car. The view was great and a good way to take in the ocean, bays, and rides:
Our first of many rides was the “Hair Raiser.” What a roller coaster! It’s on the edge of the cliff so you feel like you’re flying over the ocean while you do flips, turns, etc. We got there early, so there was no wait and we went on it several times.
The park has the best aquarium I’ve seen, a lot of roller coaster rides, and a bunch of animal exhibits and shows. Highly recommend visiting the park if you visit:
Hammer-head sharks, HUGE ray fish, all over your head against a 60 foot wall with tunnel.
Oooooh, the fish pics are killer! Your family is super lucky.
