Day 5: Hong Kong Temple and The Peak

After a great, albeit exhausting, day at Ocean Park, we decided to take Day 5 a bit slower.  One of the main reasons we wanted to visit Hong Kong was to take our oldest to our church’s temple for the first time now that he is 12.  We were all excited for him and everyone got dressed up for the occasion.  We took the MTR just 3 short stops to get there.  As there was no one to watch the rest of the kids, I took our son in for the first day to do some family names while Candace called United to confirm the changes.

Everyone was really excited and it was nice to see the younger kids really surround their brother with support and excitement:

The temple experience was wonderful and peaceful and a real bonding experience for me and my oldest.  Absolutely love the temple and all that goes on there.

After the temple, we joined Candace and the kids at the nearby park to find out that United had completely lost all work done on our itinerary – and to boot, charged us more miles, a change fee, and lost confirmation for our trip home.  Lovely.  Thanks for “helping” us!  We spent another 90 minutes on the phone with them trying to resolve…

In the mean time, the kids played in the park and enjoyed the 70 degree weather.  Cold!

We went back to the flat and changed and then went to “The Peak,” a very tall hill/mountain right above Hong Kong with a great park/trail at the top:

The tram ride up is a good 30 degree pitch.

This trail was one of my favorite areas in Hong Kong:

Our oldest took this picture of Candace and me.  I think it turned out great!

We finished the night with some yummy noodles in another great park in downtown.

“Feeding the birds” (again, sharing amongst everyone) and the kids jabbering about something on the subway

We got to bed at a decent hour tonight as the next day was our big Disneyland day!
